Case Study – Emirates Terminal 3 Feature Suggestion and Banner

Client: Emirates Airlines / Dubai International Airport
Project: Promotion of Terminal 3 with feature suggestion and banner concept
Format: Digital Banner (Flash), Storyboard (Photoshop)
Role: Concept Development, Feature Ideation, Storyboarding, Creative

Challenge

As Dubai International Airport prepared to launch Terminal 3 for Emirates, the client requested a promotional banner and asked for innovative ideas that could enhance the passenger experience within the terminal.

Insight

Airports are often fast-paced, crowded, and overwhelming. Introducing a space of calm—a Zen garden—would offer travelers a moment of stillness and reflection. This contrast could elevate the terminal experience and leave a lasting impression.

Idea

Proposed a Zen garden as a feature within Terminal 3. The banner visualized this idea through a serene scene: a Zen monk meditating in the garden, joined by a business traveler who pauses to meditate alongside him. It symbolized the power of quiet moments in the midst of travel.

Execution

  • Flash banner with soft, flowing animation and tranquil sound design
  • Storyboard designed in Photoshop
  • Visuals included flowing water, plants, greenery, and minimalist architecture
  • Caption: “Because a Zen garden also can be part of a terminal” “The new Emirates Terminal 3. A destination in itself”

Outcome

The concept added emotional depth to the terminal’s identity and positioned Emirates as a brand that values well-being and mindfulness. The banner stood out by offering not just information, but a feeling—calm, balance, and presence. The elements from the Zen garden idea was implemented in Dubai Terminal 3.

Designer Strength

This project showcases the ability to think beyond aesthetics and propose meaningful experiences. It reflects a designer’s skill in combining spatial thinking, emotional resonance, and visual storytelling—qualities that enrich any design environment.
